About This Project

Fred Rogers Productions, the award-winning entertainment company behind some of the nation’s most beloved children’s shows, retained Fluent to assist it with the development of the fifth season of a hit television series for kids, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.

Fluent was asked to take stock of what the previous seasons of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. have successfully covered, identify gaps and unmet needs in content and socio-emotional lessons, and explore opportunities for new content, stories and themes for the new season.

Fluent employed a multi-phased approach to the study. We began the research with a comprehensive review of the educational curriculum and content analysis of the 100 episodes of the previous four seasons of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. We cross-referenced these findings with the parents’ perceptions of the lessons effectively/sufficiently covered in previous episodes and the lessons they wish to see covered in the upcoming season. Finally, we leveraged social media listening to study conversation surrounding the show across social media. Based on results of the research study, we recommended specific lessons and themes for the fifth season of this series.

Fred Rogers Productions used the results of the study to inform the development of the fifth season of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood.
